Jesus Welcomes Everyone

“Jesus conquered evil, both physical and moral evil, by His mercy and love. This must be our strategy too. Whatever the evil around us, whatever the suffering it may cause us, we shall never overcome it be arguments and discussions or be taking a stand and adhering rigidly to it. This can only be accomplished by a delicate charity which understands intuitively the mentality, the tastes and the needs of others, which knows precisely when to intervene, to condescend and to sacrifice itself for the good of another, even if that other is unfriendly toward us—only such charity can triumph over evil.  –Divine Intimacy-

Thanksgiving Prayer After Mass

I thank Thee, Holy Lord, Almighty Father, Eternal God, Who deigned to feast me, sinful and unworthy servant, with the precious Body and Blood of Thy Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, not for any merit of mine, but only because of Thy merciful goodness. And I pray that this Holy Communion, far from condemning me to punishment, may bring about my pardon and salvation, encompassing me with the armor of faith and the shield of a good will. By it let my vices be done away, all lustful desires extinguished. May it advance me in charity, patience humility, obedience, and every other virtue. Let it be strong defense against the wiles of all my enemies visible and invisible, allaying for me every disturbance of flesh and spirit, binding me firmly to Thee, the One True God, and bringing my last hour to a happy close. I pray too, that it may be Thy pleasure to call my sinful self one day to that banquet, wonderful past all telling, where Thou, with Thy Son and the Holy Spirit, feast Thy saints with the vision of Thyself, Who are True Light, the fulfillment of all desires, the joy that knows no ending, gladness unalloyed, and perfect bliss, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Action Alert

The Federal Congress: has passed a DNA Data Bank/Population-wide Genetic Research Bill #S-1858 which houses the DNA from its citizens, so that the Federal Government owns an individual’s most intimate and personal information in genomic biobanks, which can be used for government-sponsored genetic research. (In Minnesota, this information has been taken from newborns for the last 10 years, which was illegal-the Minnesota State Health Deparatment reports that over 42,000 children of the 780,000 housed in the DNA Bank here, have been subjected to genetic research without their parent’s knowledge or consent) This action is unethical and un-Constitutional, and invades the privacy rights and property rights of every individual citizen. And if President Bush signs this into law, individuals will have no say in whether or not their own children will have their personal information exploited by the State, not to mention their own.

You Are Being Asked To Immediately Contact President Bush And Ask Him To VETO This Bill.

Have You Prayed For Your Priest Today?

Do You Know Your Prayers

Saint Louis de Montfort wrote that every time we recite the Angelus, Mary feels the same joy

She felt when She received the visit of the Archangel Gabriel in Nazareth.

The Angelus

The Angel Of The Lord Declared Unto Mary---And She Conceived By The Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary

Behold, The Handmaiden Of The Lord---Be It Done Unto Me According To Thy Word.

Hail Mary

And The WORD Was Made Flesh---And Dwelt Among Us.

Hail Mary

Let Us Pray: Pour Forth, We Beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy Grace Into Our Hearts,

That We, To Whom The Incarnation Of Christ, Thy Son, Was Made Known By

The Message Of An Angel, May By His Passion And Cross, Be Brought To

The Glory Of His Resurrection, Through The Same Christ, Our Lord, Amen.

Education

California: Last month on March 7th, the State of California passed a law severely restricting homeschooling, by requiring those who teach the children to be certified teachers in order to be permitted to teach one’s child in one’s own home. This law will essentially cause all homeschooling to cease, which undoubtedly, was the intent of the law.

April 25, 20008: The annual “Day of Silence” to promote homosexuality will be held in schools throughout the nation, where students will either tape their mouths closed or wear promotional t-shirts in a statement that means the homosexual community is supposedly being forced into silence. Any parent may call the school to find out if this date is being supported by their school, and if so, can keep their child home from school that day. A number of schools have dropped out of the program after parents organized and complained to the school administrators.

May 1, 2008:  Students For Human Life will have a “Cemetery of Innocents” at the University of Minnesota on the front lawn of Coffman Union, and will display 150 balloons representing the children killed every hour by abortion in the US.

For Your Information

“Catholics Come Home:” is a new website to encourage those Catholics who are not practicing their faith, to return to the Church. It can help accurately answer questions, and offer information to a generation of Catholics who need to rediscover their Faith.  See: http://www.catholicscomehome.org/

April 18, 2008: is the date a new film titled, “Expelled” will be released in theaters. The film is hosted by well-known actor/writer/satirist Ben Stein who is questioning why so many scientists are being persecuted and ostracized for their questioning of the Darwinian views of the origins of mankind. For a clip of the film, go to: www.expelledthemovie.com/playgroundvideo3.swf

Scientists who examined the Shroud of Turin in 1978 and claimed it to be a high-quality fraud, are no longer sure that their original tests were accurate after all. More recent testing has shown a great deal of difference in the carbon dating from each of the three samples given to three different laboratories. The discrepancy is being attributed to a fire to which the Shroud was exposed, which would greatly change the data which could be extracted from the fabric. –SpiritDaily-

California, San Francisco: Four pro-life women organized a festival of life titled, the Cinema Vita Film Festival, which featured a number of short film clips about five minutes each which showcased pro-life issues. The short films were categorized into high school level, college level, and open, and are considered a very effective way of reaching our youth. The Archdiocese of San Francisco, the Diocese of Oakland and St. Ignatius Press sponsored this excellent event. These clips could be brought to our Archdiocese and shown in our Catholic schools, if someone would take up the commitment to do so.

From The Vatican

April 2-4, 2008: For the first time, the Holy Father will host a World Apostolic Congress on Mercy in Rome, which includes a Pontifical Mass, special events, and world renowned spiritual leaders on the life-changing mystery of Divine Mercy, and what it means in our troubled times.

The Vatican: is permitting over 200 artifacts and works of art to tour three cities in the United States; they are: St. Petersburg, Florida, where the display will be until May, 2008,  following that the second city is Cleveland, Ohio, and St. Paul is the third city slated for the display. Included are such relics as the bones of St. Peter, the Mandylion of Edessa believed to be a cloth pressed to the face of Christ which bears his image, mosaics, portraits statues and papal vestments are among the items shown. The exhibit will be held at the Minnesota History Center beginning on September 27th. Tickets will not be available until summer, but names are being taken to receive notification by e-mail. See: www.mnhs.org/vatican. Another website which discusses the artifacts is: http://abcnews.go.com/Travel/BusinessTravel/story?id=4324209&page=1.

The Holy Father: will be visiting the United States in April, and has called together over 200 top officials from Catholic Colleges around the country to emphasize that they are not to invite pro-abortion speakers to their campuses and will be held accountable for doing so.

The Mainstream Media: once again, has been inaccurate in their description of what is being called, “The Seven New Deadly Sins” which supposedly came out from the Vatican recently. In actuality, the subject arose during an interview of a Vatican Cardinal who was being interviewed and mentioned the social ills that plague society today, including abortion, drug dealing, genetic engineering, and the like. These are all considered to be serious mortal sins specifically relevant to our times and are being clarified, but they are not a “new list of Seven Deadly Sins.”  Additionally, a Fox News article stating, “The Catholic Church divides sins into venial sins and mortal sins,” is not correct. The Catholic Church is NOT making up categories of sins; rather the Church is reiterating the Word of God as it is found in Scripture, whose quote is:   1 John 5: 16-17 “If anyone sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal.  There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal.”

The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialog: announced the existence of a new Catholic-Muslim Forum which will hold its first seminar in November in Rome where 138 leaders from the Muslim world (and other Christian leaders) will participate in an interreligious dialog on the topic of “Love for God and Neighbor.” The goal is to establish further development of dialogue between the two faiths.

In The Know About Our Times

England, London: The Saudis intend to build the largest Mosque in Europe, larger than a football stadium, by the year 2012, in time for the Olympics to be held in that city. This particular branch of Islam is considered to be a more radical group, which also build a large Mosque in Toronto recently. The confrontation with Islam is not only with weapons; obviously they believe there are other methods of planning changes in other societies.

China, Beijing: Despite rumors to its repeal, China released a document it is standing by, which states they intend to continue their “one-child policy” in that country until the year 2050. It is estimated that China has already lost (through its policy and subsequent forced-abortion means of achieving their goal) the equivalence of the entire population of the United States.

The Owner Of The Weather Channel:  has moved from criticizing Al Gore for his greatly exaggerated “chicken little/the sky is falling” insistence that the weather patterns on our planet have had major changes and that the environment is in grave danger due to “global warming,” and is now actually suing Al Gore in court, to demand that Gore attempt to prove what he claims.

Iran, Tehran:  “A Mass Exodus,” is the term being used as an estimated 1 million Moslems in that country have left the faith of Islam and have embraced Christianity, through the efforts of Evangelicals who must work underground in that nation. Legislation was recently introduced in that country to impose a death penalty for anyone born Moslem who converts to any other religion. Currently, most converts from Islam in that country are merely jailed for several years, although one individual was put to death. This development is being viewed with grave concern.

The Center For Disease Control: recently awarded nearly $40 million taxpayer dollars in grant money to several HIE and RHIO centers (Health Information Exchange and Regional Healthcare Information Organization) which are administrated from the Department of Health and Human Services. These networks have access to your personal health information, which can be distributed to hospitals, doctor’s offices and labs. Supposedly if an individual is in an emergency situation and medical information or one’s physician is not available, all an emergency room would have to do is type the person’s name into the Health Information Exchange and their health data would be on record. This system also keeps track of clinical history of infected individuals, receives data on their recent clinic visits to track their whereabouts, and has the ability to issue an all-points bulletin, supposedly to help control influenza outbreaks, respiratory illnesses, and other conditions. The Exchange also tracks physicians to see that they comply in reporting communicable diseases to public health agencies. The purposes of this system is so transparent, that a child can see the potential for abuse.  –CCHC-

Medjugorje Monthly Message

March 25, 2008: “Dear Children, I call you to work on your personal conversion. You are still far from meeting with God in your heart. Therefore, spend all the more time in prayer and Adoration of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, for Him to change you and to put into your hearts a living faith and a desire for eternal life. Everything is passing, little children, only God is not passing. I am with you and I encourage you with love. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Meet Our New Saints

Little Antonietta Meo: from Rome, a servant of God who died of bone cancer at the age of 6 ½. Antonietta would write a few words to Jesus every night and put the pages under her statue of the Infant Jesus so he could come during the night and read them. Her words reveal a very deep and mystical life with each member of the Holy Trinity. Some of her writings include, “Jesus, give me the grace to die before I commit a mortal sin,” and “Jesus, I love you so much, I want to abandon myself into your arms so you can do what you want with me.” When it was necessary to have her leg amputated from the illness, she wrote, “I am very happy that Jesus gave me this problem so that I may be his dearest one.”

Sometimes she would come close to the tabernacle and say, “Jesus, come and play with me,” and she told her mother that she sometimes saw Jesus, and that it was on the cross. She wrote, “Dear Crucified Jesus, I love you so much and I want to stay with you on Calvary…dear Jesus, tell God the Father that I love Him so much too. Please give me the strength I need to bear these pains that I offer for sinners.”  She foretold her mother, “In a few hours, I will die, but I will not suffer anymore, and you shouldn’t cry.”  Clearly, this child was close to God.

LifeNews

Alaska, Juneau: Alaska legislative committees have a bill that would ban partial-birth abortion, and a second bill on parental notification regarding their teenage daughter’s considering an abortion. While this measure is heading to the full house, unfortunately, Planned Parenthood is targeting the native Eskimo population, which, although makes up only 16 percent of the residents of that State, they account for 32% of abortions performed there, according to Steven Mosher. It is being termed, “ethnic targeting.”

Arkansas, Little Rock: The Archdiocese of Little Rock has asked Catholic Parishes and schools within its jurisdiction to disassociate any ties with the Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure because of its involvement with abortion. The Foundation has made numerous contributions to Planned Parenthood, which is extremely ironic, since it has been indicated in over 25 separate studies that abortion is linked to breast cancer, and greatly increases one’s risk of getting the disease. Other Archdiocese have also taken this action against the Komen Foundation for the same reason.

Arizona, Phoenix: A nurse at Planned Parenthood has not only been performing abortions, but intends to have the Arizona State Board of Nursing to endorse her behavior. It is of concern that other states would also permit this, if Arizona leads the way. Due to the shortage of physicians who are willing to perform abortions, it is very possible that permission could be granted to less-qualified people, such as nurses, to perform this surgery.

Canada, Ottawa: Archbishop Terrence Prendergast stated that, because he is a father in Christ and a Shepherd of his flock, he will be speaking to elected officials who advocate abortion, to encourage them to convert their hearts to the pro-life views held by the Catholic Church. If they continue to persist in this error, then the Archbishop will not permit public reception of the Blessed Sacrament until their views have fallen in line with the teachings of the Church.

Canada, Toronto: A conference on euthanasia was recently held in Toronto, where pro-life speaker Wesley Smith discussed tactics of the euthanasia movement to promote premature death. He explained the tactic of the “Personhood Theory” which is a species-neutral approach to medical ethics denying any intrinsic value to human life. This permits human life to be measured by factors such as “quality of life” which is determined by others, the cost of treatment, and their value to society. This gives permission to the “Futile Care Theory” which promotes the death of those who fail to meet the standards of the “Personhood Theory,” in relation to the quality of life. He stated,  We want to put people out of our misery.”

China, Shanghai: The government of China owns a pharmaceutical company, which makes RU-486, a drug which US Danco Laboratories distributes here in the United States. This same pharmaceutical company manufactured a contaminated leukemia drug that has caused paralysis in hundreds of people. Obviously, questions arise regarding the integrity of China’s drug company, in view of other products made in that country such as lead-tainted toys and deadly pet food distributed in the US.

Colorado, Denver: Pro-Life groups would like to hold a peaceful demonstration at the Democratic National Convention to be held in Denver this summer, in accordance with the Rights outlined in the First Amendment, but the city of Denver currently has not permitted approval for their requests, and has instead, closed 14 downtown city parks that could be used for assembling for the demonstration.

England, London: The very troubled nation of England has taken another macabre step towards de-humanizing people by creating a human being using in-vitro fertilization using 3 parents; one man and two women’s DNA cells were used. The procedure used ten human embryos obtained from fertility clinics for this experiment. This procedure is being performed under the guise of eliminating medical problems from fetus’ such as muscular dystrophy, deafness, and so on. This is truly unbelievable to claim this is in the better interest of us all.

Florida, Tampa: The family of Terri Schiavo is announcing a new radio program that will be broadcast simultaneously on the internet, called, “America’s Lifeline.” The program will air on Christian station 860 WGUL Talk Radio, and intends to focus on helping the elderly and disabled to obtain appropriate medical care, covering such topics as advanced medical directives, the dangers of assisted suicide, learning about state and federal laws, hospice care, and the push in the medical business to terminate medical treatment and life.

Georgia, Atlanta: An important bill did not make it out of committee in the Georgia legislature. The Paramount Right To Life amendment would extend all rights to an unborn child by giving it “personhood,” from the moment of fertilization regardless of its health, sex, race, function, or condition of dependency. This would have completely outlawed all abortion in the State of Georgia, and would have been a direct challenge to Roe vs Wade. However, the extremely close vote of 4-3 stopped the bill in committee. This is a major issue that many pro-lifers have been emphasizing for many years; that fetuses are human beings with rights and should be recognized as such.

India, New Delhi: To aid in lowering the abortion statistics due in that country, India is now offering a cash payment to poor families to have female babies who would otherwise be aborted. Additionally, to help keep unmarried pregnant girls in school, the government will give another cash payment to these girls so that they will have the means to give birth to their babies and still complete their educations. Both are a very pro-life aids.

Luxembourg, Luxembourg City: This small Germanic European country is close to being the third European country after the Netherlands and Belgium to legalize euthanasia, that is, to allow physicians to take their own lives without any legal consequences. Not only Catholics, but physicians and other medical professionals have joined in the fight to defeat the measure, which only needs one more vote to pass.

New York, Albany: An alarming bill has been introduced in the legislature and being pushed by Governor Elliot Spritzer of New York State that would make abortion a “legal right” so that, even if Roe vs Wade were overturned, abortion would still stand in that State because it would raise abortion to the status of a “right” similar to Freedom of Speech. The bill permits unlimited late-term abortions, would allow non-physicians to perform abortions, prohibit parents from being informed that their teenage daughters were having the procedure, and force insurance providers to pay for the surgery.  Of particular concern is forcing Catholic hospitals to acquiesce to performing abortions or to close their doors. This is an extremely dangerous bill.

New York, New York: The governments of Poland and Malta stated to a United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) that their nations would NOT be following the lead of the European Union that would require abortion to be included as a right in women’s sexual and reproductive health. The pressure on these two nations must be very intense for daring to defy the powers-that-be.

Washington, Seattle: The AVM Biotechnology firm has announced it intends to offer ethical alternatives to some of the vaccines which currently use fetal tissues from abortions. The firm will also work to develop these same alternatives in the field of pharmaceuticals and the development of other vaccines, so that no destruction to pre-born children would be involved in their products.

Washington, DC: The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) has made a major and deadly power play against pro-life physicians through the issuance of a statement titled, “The Limits Of Conscientious Refusal in Reproductive Medicine.” The document will essentially force pro-life doctors out of business for refusing to refer a woman for an abortion. The document went so far as to recommended that doctors should move closer to abortion facilities so women would have a shorter drive for their abortion procedures. Already ACOG has tied recertification of physicians to their ethics compliance. Although the American Association of ProLife Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) objects to these guidelines, it remains to be seen if they will have the ability to override the strong arm of ACOG.

Washington, DC: Representative Mike Pence and Senator David Vitter have sponsored legislation at the Federal level to terminate funding of Planned Parenthood in view of its website, TeenWire, which features sexual content that is so explicit that some internet filters are preventing access to it. Planned Parenthood states that the site is meant for people over the age of 18. However, the website encourages viewers to play sexual games, explore bisexuality, encourages the use of pornography as part of sex play, and gives advice on how to avoid telling parents about a possible abortion; clearly this site is geared towards pre-teens and teenagers, and clearly, some of this is pornographic. In response, several members of Congress are trying to terminate the $300 million dollars in federal funding which PP receives. We are being urged to contact our Congressional officials and urge support of this bill to cut funding to the Planned Parenthood organization.

Washington, DC: Geron Laboratories, an embryonic stem cell research facility intends to begin testing human beings with spinal cord injuries with injections using fetal stem cells, even though the organization has had difficulties in its trials using animals, whose immune systems rejected the fetal cells. Geron is waiting only for approval from the Food and Drug Administration. Close behind Geron is Advanced Cell Technology and Novocell, which also intend to pursue similar action, and Neuralstem, all of which desire to test their fetal stem cells on humans.
